After CJI Sanjiv Khanna Takes Over No Oral Mentioning In Supreme Court

After Sanjiv Khanna took over as CJI, Supreme court has undergone a procedural change under which oral mentioning will be prohibited for urgent hearings. Now urgentlisting can be requested through an email or written slips. This move is made in order to ensure easy access to justice and to provide equal treatment to citizens irrespective of their status. This is a citizen centeric agenda according to CJI Sanjiv Khanna.

Oral Mentioning is a process in which an advocates bypasses the filing process and directly appeal to the justices for an early hearing. CJI Sanjiv Khanna is 64 years old and will be holding office for 6 months before retiring on 13th May 2025.
